Work life balance – Another addiction

Share

Does it exists?  It is now the weekend and how many us will stop and “smell the roses”?  I am sure a few will having learnt perhaps the hard way that to be truly ourselves and to get the very best out of our lives it is our essential for ourselves.   However for some is work just another addiction?   We bandie the word “workaholic” around quite freely but do we actually understand that just like an “alcoholic” it is an addictive and destructive state?  Addiction is a cruel mistress and if we usually associate it with drink, gambling or substance misuse.  But if work takes over our every waking thought and we begin to isolate ourselves in pursuit of either more work or just being too caught up in work to actually be able to interact with others – surely this too has the makings of an addiction/
