Grief Counselling and Skype

Share

It happened without any announcement.  I was all set.  I’d spent a long time getting to a place I was comfortable with. Me, my counselling clients and Skype were a good team.  We were happy. We were productive.  We could travel apart but come together.  We knew we would journey together for the foreseeable future and then it happened…….  Windows updated itself.

Not an uncommon occurrence but this time it wiped out my old version of Skype.  In a few minutes my window to the world and travelling companion formerly known as Classic Skype was gone.  I was in shock.  How could this have happened.  Surely it must have been a mistake.    In essence I was in denial.  Then, I got angry why had this happened?  Why did they have to change it? The new version of Skype was so unfamiliar, and I felt so alone.  How was I going to cope?   I ranted for a while, got brain fog in my new state of trying to again figure out why this had happened and then finally I accepted that it had happened.  I was sad but the brain fog lifted, and I began to figure it out and as I reconnected with my clients we all were a little shaken but we shared our misgivings about the new order of things and carried on as Skype wanted us to.

Grief can strike us for all different reasons. Be aware if you are going through it and give yourself a little TLC and time and if that doesn’t help talk it through with a trained professional.  I offer a free 15 minute non therapeutic taster session to see how talking it out would feel.  Email me on jean@justonsmallstep.uk.com to arrange that.
