What Is Anxiety?

Sometimes the pressure we are under can become overwhelming and difficult to cope with.  Anxiety can manifest iself in a variety of ways leaving us feeling scared and unable to cope.  Past experiences may seem to stop us from moving forward  to the point where it becomes almost impossible to carry out normal tasks without an all-consuming feeling of dread that can ruin our interactions with life entirely. This is usually due to a cycling of negative thoughts, combined with an inability to find an alternative perspective, that results in our minds rationalising these thoughts as being  true. By discussing and looking at things in a different way we can move past these thoughts and feelings.

How To Reduce Anxiety?

You may just want a better understanding of how anxiety might be affecting you. Counselling can help you think outside of your regular thought patterns and remove some ‘distorted thinking’ and will help develop a new perspective on your experiences, giving you the tools to cope. I work with clients in a variety of ways including CBT and REBT (a similar form to CBT using rational thoughts to look at thinking patterns) and my counselling style is conversational and informative as you can see from my video on the home page.
